The Wehrmacht had a dirty secret: up to 150,000 men with Jewish ancestry served Hitler’s war machine. Some were Mischlinge (partial Jews under Nazi racial laws), others were fully Jewish converts to Christianity exploiting loopholes. Their stories range from tragic to grotesque:

  • Decorated officers like Field Marshal Erhard Milch (Jewish father) helped orchestrate the Blitzkrieg

  • 5,000+ full Jews served by hiding in plain sight, some even winning Iron Crosses

  • Many were later deported to camps after 1940 racial purges
